Parlor in the Round - October 2019
Tickets on sale Tuesday, September 17th at 10:30 am online and at the Bear Tooth box office!
Following the Sold Out season 5 Finale, PARLOR IN THE ROUND returns to the Bear Tooth for a special pre-season show featuring the seminal American songwriter Tim Easton.
Tim’s career has spanned 30 years and over 100 published songs. From his earliest days as a bona fide troubadour in Europe to his current continental zig sagging Tim has been seeking and telling the truth through his folk-based storytelling style. Rolling Stone Magazine praised him as "having a novelist's sense of humanity."
Alaskans have adopted Tim as one of there own, heaping on experiences with each tour of the last frontier to be churned into stories and songs. His stark humor, and worldly wit are underpinned by a genuine, neighborly care makes him one of us.
Tim has played the Parlor in the storied Alaska Room at Folk Alliance International, and in exhibition at Salmonfest. Now, as a featured artist for October, he’ll get a run for his money along side Alaskan songwriters.
The Mountain State has its Stage and the Tiny Desk, its Concerts. This concert season Alaskans will gather at Parlor In The Round. Borrowing from the guitar pull tradition of porches and campfires, songwriters from all walks of Alaskan life (and some beyond) will trade songs and stories as they are inspired by each other.
After the intermission, tradition is cast aside as the musicians dive into collaborations, jocular inventions and premeditated musings all based on written submissions from the audience.
Kevin Worrell hosts this dinner theater, drawing out the strength and vulnerability of each artist while holding the crowd closely throughout the performance. The Bear Tooth transforms its movie house into dinner theater and a hush falls over the crowd. Expect to lean in and laugh out loud at the Parlor.
